Brett Favre Is Back In The NFL

August 20, 2009 in Crazy Stories In Sports, Football, NFL

Days after Mike Vick returned to the NFL, Brett Favre must have felt left out.

After retiring again for the 2nd time, Favre again returned the NFL, this time with the Vikings. Favre said in a press conference that his arm feels good and he would like to play again.

I don’t know what makes Favre decide that he is playing, he isn’t playing, he is playing, he isn’t playing now he is. Maybe it is just to get attention. Personally, I think he should have left the game on the high point of his career. I think now he is asking to leave the game because he is hurt, or sucks. I think he will ruin his legacy if he tries to play again. I want to see Favre vs. Vick. That is a sportscasters DREAM!!

Darren Sproles Re-signs With Chargers

April 29, 2009 in Football, NFL

You always love rooting for the underdog.

Last season, when San Diego’s star RB LT went down for the count, 5 foot 6 in Darren Sproles came in and did a 328 total yard game. He became one of the leagues premier running backs in one game.

And now he gets paid like one.

Sproles signed a one year deal worth 6.25 million dollars. The kid is only 25 years old! Not a bad raise at that age if you ask me (made a little over 1 mil last year). He now ranks with the average salary of star running backs as he should.

He becomes a free agent at the end of the year. My opinion is you drop the dead weight called LT and you give the little guy his chance to show the NFL what he can do. You let him go and rely on LT, you are going to watch him blow up on another team. Being a S.D. boy, I want to see him blow up here. LT is past his game. He offers a great mentor to Sproles, but when push comes to shove, I think Sproles needs to be our every down back.

What do you think?

Vick pays 6.5 mil to Falcons-Release is next?

March 31, 2009 in athletes, Football

Michael Vick agreed to pay the Falcons 6.5 million dollars for the 2 years that he missed while in prision on Federal Dog Fighting charges. Vick, due out in about a month, is hopefully to play in the NFL again. NFL commissioner Roger Godel will review the situation when Vick gets out of prison. Vick has been suspended indefinetly. Vick paying the money most likely indicates the Falcons will release him.

Here is my opinion: What Michael Vick did was in no way right, moral or OK. However, he has served his time-like any other criminal that has caused a crime. He should be allowed to play in the NFL again, purely on the principle. However, I also think IF he gets back in, he will NEVER be the player that he used to be. IN fact, the only reason he will get picked up is because of the press coverage. Not becuase he is Michael Vick-one of the best quarterbacks of all time.

That is my opinion-What is yours? Do you think Vick should play in the NFL? Will he be GOOD enough to play again?

When will the madness stop?!?

December 4, 2008 in athletes, baseball, Doping, Football

This week, the NFL suspended 6 players for 4 games for testing positive for a diuretic that can be used as a masking agent for steroids. Of course, the players have argued that the substance containing the diuretic didn’t list all its ingredients, and that the league scientists and lawyers had information about the substance, but withheld the information from the players

Is anyone else getting sick of hearing about all the doping issues on professional sports? I understand the bigger, faster, stronger principle, but what happened to hard work? Has sports become so competitive that people NEED to take steroid and performance enhancing drugs?

And what is with the witch hunt? Steroids are so bad in sports, sports like the NFL actually have scientists that work on this stuff? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Personally, if you want to fix baseball, cycling, football, hockey, track and field, and every other sport that has ever had doping problems (TABLE TENNIS ANYONE?), instead of suspending those accused of the infraction, why not kick them out of the sport all together? I can almost guarantee you there are athletes that are in great shape in the farm systems that DO NOT dope. They are working hard for a chances, but there are those professional athletes that have the advantage are taking their sport. Kick them out. Make the only way they can get in is after a year (or longer) of living clean, a public apology, community service then a try out. If a system like the above is put into place, you will weed those players out of the sport, and only those who truly just want to play will be in the game.

What do you think? Am I way off on this? Is there really no hope?
