LT done as a charger?

January 6, 2009 in Football, Uncategorized

Hey San Diego Fans…

MSN sport writer Jason Whitlock writes the 10 truth no one wants to hear in the NFL. Want to know what number 7 is?

7. LaDainian Tomlinson will never start another game in a San Diego uniform.

Don’t expect to see L.T. donning those powder blues next season.

Man, this is a bad day for me. LT and Peyton Manning are two of my favorite players, but I have to keep it real.

LT’s injury saved the Chargers. With a healthy LT, Sproles never gets his chance to dominate the Colts. Darren “Seabiscuit” Sproles is an every-down back. Yes, he’s small, but the Biscuit, like the legendary undersized thoroughbred, is made to run with the big dogs.

I’ve been watching Seabiscuit make fools of bigger men ever since he starred at Olathe North High School, 20 minutes from my home. When he signed with Kansas State, I had my doubts. He put a clown suit on me and everyone in the Big 12.

What he did to the Colts on Saturday — 328 all-purpose yards — did not surprise anyone who saw him play in high school and college. The Biscuit is off the chains.

LT should be on the trading block this offseason. He’d be a wonderful addition to the Patriots.

Time to speak out Charger fans. Tell me what you think. Being an SD boy, I am going to send your opinion to Mr. Whitlock.

GO CHARGERS!!

When will the madness stop?!?

December 4, 2008 in athletes, baseball, Doping, Football

This week, the NFL suspended 6 players for 4 games for testing positive for a diuretic that can be used as a masking agent for steroids. Of course, the players have argued that the substance containing the diuretic didn’t list all its ingredients, and that the league scientists and lawyers had information about the substance, but withheld the information from the players

Is anyone else getting sick of hearing about all the doping issues on professional sports? I understand the bigger, faster, stronger principle, but what happened to hard work? Has sports become so competitive that people NEED to take steroid and performance enhancing drugs?

And what is with the witch hunt? Steroids are so bad in sports, sports like the NFL actually have scientists that work on this stuff? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Personally, if you want to fix baseball, cycling, football, hockey, track and field, and every other sport that has ever had doping problems (TABLE TENNIS ANYONE?), instead of suspending those accused of the infraction, why not kick them out of the sport all together? I can almost guarantee you there are athletes that are in great shape in the farm systems that DO NOT dope. They are working hard for a chances, but there are those professional athletes that have the advantage are taking their sport. Kick them out. Make the only way they can get in is after a year (or longer) of living clean, a public apology, community service then a try out. If a system like the above is put into place, you will weed those players out of the sport, and only those who truly just want to play will be in the game.

What do you think? Am I way off on this? Is there really no hope?

From Secretary of State to President…Of Football

October 27, 2008 in Football

The NFL network is stating today that Condoleezza Rice, current United State Secretary of State is interested in talking with the San Francisco 49ers about taking a high-level position within the organization. One high-ranking 49ers official said last week, “If she’s interested in talking to us, I’m interested in talking to her.” Rice has told friends as recently as last week she would love to become president of an NFL team. Rice could be a perfect candidate to become the 49ers president, helping the team try to procure the new stadium they desperately need.

What is your opinion on this? Should the 49ers persue Rice for president?

Brett Favre

July 24, 2008 in athletes, Football, NFL, Uncategorized

Any sports fan have heard about the whole green bay packers vs. Brett Favre story. Favre retired, but wants to play again, and Green Bay will not release him.

MSN reported this morning that Favre could be in a Tampa Bay uniform as early as this weekend.

There has been numerous editorials about Favre and his retiring/not retiring/retiring/not retiring. Most of the writers are saying that he needs to retire.

I love sports. There is something about sports that show the good in people. It shows heart, determination, and will. A guy like Brett Favre epitomizes what sports is all about. Not just an amazing athlete, but a role model. He gives kids all around the world something to work for. To look up to. To create a dream and a goal for themselves. Now he is giving late 30-somethings the same attitude. I know that my dad sees Farve on sunday, and gets inspired to work out. I know my dad will never become an athlete, but if Brett Favre can be such a great athlete at his age, then my dad knows that the least he can do is to get of the couch and onto the treadmill.

Let Favre play. He loves the game and cannot stay away. Is that a bad thing? I don’t think so. Let me know what you think. There are so many opinions running around the world about Farve and his ability to play, I know you have an opinion. Speak Up.

Can you hear me now…Good?

June 22, 2008 in Football

Personally, I think you have to hear voices in your head if you want to have 300 pound beast running after you because you have pigskin in your hands. Well, now they really do.

After long making rules changes designed to increase scoring, NFL owners reversed course this off-season by allowing the use of defensive helmet transmitters. Now, coaches can use the 25 seconds given to them to rely the play to their defense.

First, we allow the refs to use replay to see if they got the call right. Now, we allow coaches to actually talk to players during the game. Where is the purity of the game? What happen to the nitty gritty of the sport? There was a time when players didn’t even wear faces mask! It was a true game. Now we are not even making the players remember plays. They now get their hands held during the game.

I am interested to see what these transmitters will do in a packed house at Green Bay. Lets see how effective they truly are..

What do you think? Will transmitters take away from the game? Or will they improve it?
