Michael Vick: The Story Continues On

May 20, 2009 in NFL, Sport History

The saga of Michael Vick continues. Following a 21 month prison sentences and consequently, 2 seasons off from Football, Michael Vick is released from prison to go under house arrest. His expected release day is mid-July.

Vick took a full time construction job to make a few extra bucks to pay back some money (he filed for bankruptcy a few months back).

So now the question comes down to this: Will M. Vick play again in the NFL?

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has said that Vick needs to do more than just apologize. He truly needs to regret what he has done.

Former Colt’s coach Tony Dungee visited Vick in prison and said that Vick has changed and wants another shot.

So what do you think? Not only if you WANT him to play in the NFL again, but CAN he play in the NFL again?

Here is my take on it:
Michael Vick has done some terrible things in his life, who hasn’t? I would bet that there are some other professional athletes who have done worse things than Vick and not been caught. Vick got caught, and service his punishment till the end. He never once pulled a Paris Hilton and cried his way back home, or use his star power to weasel out of prison. He took his punishment and faced the consequences. To me, when his time is fully up, he is just as much of a free man as you or I. He should be reinstated to the NFL and get the chance to play, if he can hack it.

Can he physically play in the NFL? I highly doubt it. It is hard to think that, even an athlete of his caliper, can take 2 years off and not miss a beat. He was a great quarterback when it came to scrambling and moving, but his arm was already sub par at best. I personally think, if he was to get reinstated, he would not be able to comeback full swing. He will not be able to help any NFL team and his comeback will be nothing more than a one time story on SportCenter.

But I truly hope that Vick gets the chance to prove me wrong.

Good Luck Michael Vick. You still have a long road ahead.

John Lackey waits 6 weeks and last 2 pitches

May 17, 2009 in baseball

After waiting 6 weeks because he was on the disable list, John Lackey of the Angels was ejected from the game after throwing only 2 pitches.

What do you think? Do you think he should have been ejected? Was he really trying to intimidate, or was he just rusty from 6 weeks off?!

Man U wins 3rd Premier League Title in A Row

May 16, 2009 in Soccer (futbol)

Is anyone better?

Manchester United clinched their 3rd consecutive Premier League title in a row. If you follow soccer, you know that is a huge feat. That ties them with LIverpool with 18 of all time. So now I ask you this question: Is anyone better than the Mighty Man U?

They have some of the hottest talent in C. Ronaldo and Teves (if Teves stays). Personally, I don’t think any team can come close. Liverpool may make a run, but I think Man U is the best team to play soccer. EVER. What do you think?

Letter to Manny Ramirez

May 8, 2009 in Uncategorized

Dear Manny Ramirez,

Baseball is having a rough time. Between Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, and Jose Canseco, MLB cannot seem to finds its way out of the drug scandal light.

Now there are reports that you have been suspended for 50 games because of an “unnatural testosterone” as well the female fertility drug hCG.

I know that you went to the doctor for a “personal health issue” and thought it was OK to take whatever he gave you, but here is my question to you:

Why would you not go to the team doctor? Is that “Personal Problem” really too personal for your teammates, your brothers, to hear or know about?

Also, Mr. Ramirez, If I went to see my doctor, and he gave me a FEMALE fertility drug, I would throw up some red flags and I am not a professional athlete.

You are 36 and one of the most feared players in baseball. And now you will be watching your team for the next 50 games.

So in conclusion, Mr. Ramirez, whether or not it was a mistake to take those pills or not, I personally think you could have gone about this whole incident in a little bit more of a professional manner. After all, you are a professional.

Signed,

Still a Fan
