Brett Favre

July 24, 2008 in athletes, Football, NFL, Uncategorized

Any sports fan have heard about the whole green bay packers vs. Brett Favre story. Favre retired, but wants to play again, and Green Bay will not release him.

MSN reported this morning that Favre could be in a Tampa Bay uniform as early as this weekend.

There has been numerous editorials about Favre and his retiring/not retiring/retiring/not retiring. Most of the writers are saying that he needs to retire.

I love sports. There is something about sports that show the good in people. It shows heart, determination, and will. A guy like Brett Favre epitomizes what sports is all about. Not just an amazing athlete, but a role model. He gives kids all around the world something to work for. To look up to. To create a dream and a goal for themselves. Now he is giving late 30-somethings the same attitude. I know that my dad sees Farve on sunday, and gets inspired to work out. I know my dad will never become an athlete, but if Brett Favre can be such a great athlete at his age, then my dad knows that the least he can do is to get of the couch and onto the treadmill.

Let Favre play. He loves the game and cannot stay away. Is that a bad thing? I don’t think so. Let me know what you think. There are so many opinions running around the world about Farve and his ability to play, I know you have an opinion. Speak Up.

And you thought YOU had it tough

July 9, 2008 in athletes, NFL, Uncategorized

Anyone remember Michael Vick? Yeah, that guy. He use to be the quarterback for the falcons, making millions of dollars. Well, in case you do not know, he went to jail for dogfighting, losing his prestigious career.

And just to make sure he has no dignity left, Michael Vick has filed for bankruptcy. He is over 10 million dollars in debt. According to his filing papers, Vick says that “after the conclusion of the bankruptcy case, rebuild his life on a personal and spiritual level, resurrect his image as a public figure, and resolve matters with the NFL such that he can resume his career,”.

Anyone think Michael Vick with play in the NFL again? Anyone want to see him play again? Speak up!

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

Why aren't you a tennis fan?!?

July 7, 2008 in Uncategorized

There are a lot of people that think that tennis is one of the most boring sports to watch. I have to admit, I use to be one of those people. But last year I changed. These guys are amazing athletes. Don’t believe me? Go watch the wimbledon men’s singles final. Rafeal Nadal vs. Roger Federer. AMAZING! They are quick, agile, strong, powerful. One fan on ESPN.com said it best “Superhuman athleticism was on display– combining 120mph+ serves, great footwork, Federer’s rocket forehand and Nadal’s insanely powerful two-handed backhand.” Watch the highlights (They will be on sportcenter for the next week!). Just amazing.

Kudos to Rafael Nadal. After being beaten in the finals twice in a row, he final wins the title. But Federer did not let him win easy.

Venus topples Serena for fifth Wimbledon title

July 5, 2008 in Uncategorized

We now know who the better sister is this year. Venus Williams beat her sister Serena in the Wimbledon women’s singles championship match.
I have to admit, if I beat my brother at a game, I would be rubbing it in like there is no tomorrow. The way that Venus handled herself after beating her sister is worth applauding.
But all is not lost for Serena: after the singles match, her and her sister walked back onto the court and won the women’s double title.

Congrats to the Williams sisters for their winnings today. Want Williams Sister’s Gear? CLICK HERE

Tour de France Opens Up

July 5, 2008 in Uncategorized

Alejando Valverde, racing for a new team this year and a leading contender for the yellow jersey this year, won the opening stage in a final sprint Saturday as cycling’ 3-week showcase gets rolling.

The tour has been plagued by doping scandals, the most famous being that of 06 winner Floyd Landis who appeal was finally rejected and lost the 06 title.

It seems that even cycling cannot get away from the cynicism of doping and steroids in sports. Every sport seems to have at least 1 martyr in the sport that has plagued the sport for all eternity. Will we ever get back to the days when an athlete purely completed of tier own fortitude and no help from outside sources? Or will we see the day when steroids are the only way anyone can compete in professional sports.

Good luck to all the riders in this year’s Tour. They cover a grueling 2,175 miles through France.
