Curt Schilling to Retire?

June 21, 2008 in baseball, Boston Red Socks, Curt Shilling

Curt Schilling, the 41-year old right handed pitcher for the bosox, will have a season ending operation Monday after the rehabilitation program preferred by the club did not work. Schilling says in his 38pitches.com blog:

“Coming back from this surgery at 31 would be an enormous challenge, at 41 more so. BUT, it that is an option at least i’ll be able to make that decision with all the cards on the table, and it will end on terms I choose. I won’t come back throwing 85 with so-so crap. If there is not an option to come back and be good, I won’t.”

Will this be the end of Curt Schilling? Let’s hope not. Schilling is a fighter. Every game he pitches, he pitches with heart. Just look at the bloody sock incident. He is also the veteran on a staff with Beckett, Daisuke and Lester.
Curt Shilling Bloody Sock

My hope is that he comes back strong than ever. He truly is what baseball is all about. Good Luck Curt! Hope to see you back soon in the bigs!
